Paid by you, never the retailers
Consumer-paid, whole-of-market. We built NeverPayMore because the existing options have the wrong incentives.
The problem
Most Australian households pay about $281 a year more for electricity than they need to. Not because they use more — because finding a better plan takes effort most people don't have time for, and retailers count on that.
Comparison sites that are supposed to help are part of the problem. They take $50–$200 a sign-up from retailers for every customer they send across. That fee bends the rankings — the plan that pays the highest commission isn't necessarily the best plan for you.
Even households that switch rarely land on the best deal. An independent 2019 study of 47,000 real bills found that typical switchers still left $236 out of $281 on the table — switching closed only $45 of the gap.
Our model
NeverPayMore is consumer-paid, whole-of-market. We take no commissions from retailers. Not now, not ever. The only people we answer to are you.
In Phase 0 the service is free. In Phase 1 we'll charge a flat annual fee — the same for everyone, regardless of which plan we recommend. The incentive is to give you the right answer, not the profitable one.
Who built this
NeverPayMore was built by Austin Tan — someone who has worked inside energy retail at Ausgrid, AEMO, Intellihub, Aurecon, and EY. He saw first-hand how complex and opaque the retail market is for ordinary households: tariff structures designed to be confusing, standing offers that carry a loyalty penalty, and comparison tools that rank by commission rather than value.
NeverPayMore is an attempt to build the thing that should have existed already — a genuinely independent, consumer-funded tool that tells you what you could be saving and why.
Independence pledge
We accept no retailer commissions. We do not earn referral fees. We do not have “preferred partners.” We are funded by the people who use the service.
If you ever see us recommend a plan that doesn't make sense for your usage, or if you think our methodology is wrong, we want to hear it. Accuracy is the only thing that makes this worth doing.
